Friday didn't do much of anything. Got my money back from Brian, and talked to Liz and Melanie. Watched Smackdown. Picked up Scarface.

Saturday was the last day for Pit Bull University. We worked on Down Stay with dogs moving, Loose leash walking, a new trick High Five. And of course reviewed the stuff from earlier weeks. It was just Layla, Mama, and Tito. In order to graduate, the dog must walk up on loose leash or at heel, say hello to Crissa nicely, and do a trick of choice. Layla walked nicely at heel (the faster to get the ham), said hello quite nicely (thanks to getting pets), and since Mama was about 8 - 10ft away, I decided to try High Five. She wouldn't have anything to do with that. So we did Play Dead. Then tried to eat her diploma. Got her back to the shelter, and got her diploma up. (She was also named Most Improved) So GO LAYLA!!!!!!!!!!!
I just find it amazing that she was willing to do the hardest trick in front of another dog. We had a choice of Sit Pretty, Wave, High Five, or Play Dead. Showered and went over to Davids. Rested for a wee bit, then went to get supplies, food, and doggy stuffs. Got Layla a jingle bell collar and Topaz and dog some Christmas stuff. Also got Layla a red LED lightup bone for our walks after dark. Got home, ate dinner, he worked on stuff and I read. Early night for both of us, both needed the sleep. Sunday was lazy and warm while there. Went with mom, Jerry and brother to zoo lights. (Still wanting to go with David).

Monday got a job application from Jacks. Headed to the shelter. Walked Razi, then found out that walking puppies that young (9 weeks) is not to be done. ~shrugs~ Went to go walk Rome, boundless wiggly energy he is. Then hung out at the shelter for a bit with Holiday (pit pup) and Lucy (border collie pup) And found out that Salsa is on hold. So she might go home for Christmas. Yay!! Holi is 2nd choice and Lucy is 3rd. Terriers need socialization more, plus is so cute and young and a puppy! Yes, I'm being suckered in, but at least I know it. Walked Layla, lnogest walk, but backwards. Saw a few dogs in both parks. Actually, got a Golden Retriever within 3 feet. She acts all aggressive first, but then later it changes to a hey I wanna do that weird thing I see other dogs do type of bark and bounce. Shes seen other dogs play. Its funny cuz she'll watch and stare and her forehead will get all wrinkley, but shes relaxed, so shes gotta be thinking and trying to figure it out. And I has learned a lesson tonight. No mixing hot meal with chocolate. ~pout~

Watched Tribute to the Troops.

Tuesday I will be dropping off applications, showering then to Davids. Wednesday will be picking up whatever puppy I am bringing home. Thursday is church and dinner with family and going over to pat and lisas. Maybe seeing Kate since she'll be up here. Friday will be over at John and Bevs. Saturday will be taking puppy back and going to Davids. Sunday is nada. Ta!

Ok then. Tuesday took Topaz to the shelter to see if hed get along with Bailey, our dushund/pit mix. She loved him, but was a bit too energetic for my old dog. So I'm having Salsa again, my trained viscious attack Chihuahua/terrier mix. Same dog as Thanksgiving. Then grabbed Layla and started off to meet my friend, Tabi for dog walking and catching up time. We got lots of time in with the walking and talking and catching up on odd things. Ended up being a 3 hour walk, which I enjoyed, she seemed to enjoy and Layla loved. Layla even greeted Tabi in a nice fashion, even if Layla seemed to get a wild hair near the end of the walk. Said goodbye to both of them and hopped on over to David. We rested for a bit, found out there was some surprise frosted fudge cakes, and headed to Kroger, then to Mark Pis for food. Much needed food. Back home for more resting (ok, so I was tired and wanted to not move) We watched Sky High and would like an order of Warren Peace. Heh. Memo to self: Hot stuff is good on muscles after walking lots. Purr. Bit of laziness on Wednesday but got moving in time to grab lunch and not be rushed. Caught up a bit on Dog Whisperer and talked to Julie.

Thursday talked to Liz and Cori and Amy. Went to shelter, said hello to Salsa and Feista. Very bouncy and full of energy, which I like. Said hello to our new boxer (and probably pit) mix puppies. Grabbed Layla and started off. The head halti is mah freend. She walked by two dogs right at the beginning just fine. Remember, dogs equal treats. I did note at the park that if she can't be aggressive, she sometimes shuts down, so I'm thinking that the dog aggression could actually be a bit fear based as well. Went a different way to Wahalla. Down Kelso. She actually carried her toy a bit just as happy as can be. She had the best of both worlds for a bit. Both chewing toy and getting pets and skreetches. The only dog we had a problem with, which is Layla got worked up enough to bark once, was a Wheaten Terrier who was probably about 7 feet away and also barking and pulling. In the park when a Flat-coated Retrevier went by, she stood up but just stood there, no barking, though the dog showed interest in her. Also, she saw for the first time dogs playing together and just watched. Kinda cute, but also kinda sad. I don't think she was ever socialized with dogs. When we got back someone had one of the hound mixes out and she did fine going inside, the very picture of a well-behaved dog. Gave her the promised bone. Walked one of the other hound mixes up and down the street, then grabbed the new pit pup (reverse brindle, one half ear) and did the same. Wow, never realized how much work puppies are, guess I forgot. Maybe might foster this one so he gets socialized around dogs and cats. Mom thought he was cute. Asked Jourdan if it was ok if we picked Salsa up on Wednesday instead of Thursday next week and she said yes. didn't get my money back today, maybe on Friday.

Hopefully Layla and I graduate our first obedience class on Saturday!!! Ta!

First off, its amazing how talking to someone just about random stuff can help.

Ok then. Friday went to Lizs to hang out. We cleaned a bit, and watched Snapped and Worlds Dumbest and talked. Hmm, maybe should start looking for Shar-pei breeders to help out. Maybe. Good dogs, excellent protectors, as long as they know who family is. The ones I've met have been nice. Grooming wise a Shar-pei was one of the most patient dog Regan and I have ever done. Talked to Melanie for a bit and heard her boys barking.

Saturday of course was Pit Bull U. Week 5. Layla did not have a brand new toy to rip but she had fun with her old ones. I am hoping she learns to carry a toy in her mouth on walks, I'll have to bring a small one just in case I have to carry it in pockets. For some reason it was just us and Tito. Crissa moved some of the blinds so Layla and Tito could see each other. Now, last week before we got in there they were barking their fool heads off at one another. This day they looked so we did 'Theres a dog' and everything was fine. They learned that each other equaled yummy stuffs. We warmed up with Sit and Down. Then worked on SitStay with someone approaching. Crissa was even able to pet Layla on the side of her face without her breaking the sit. We did loose leash walking. We worked on doing Wave and Bear(sit pretty/beg) without having treats in our hands, but giving them after. Worked on Heel. Layla doesn't know the heel command, however she does know the Look at Me command/hand cue, and when walking she is in the heel position or very close to it. Yeah, I cheat. We had two off-leash dogs come running into the room and both dogs saw them. Tito barked (hey he didn't know these dogs) and Layla thought about barking, I saw it, but then I think she decided ham and cheese were better. The blinds had to be put back after that cuz the dogs were just too excited. Crissa showed us how to stop our dogs from jumping up on people (Tito is lab/pit and Layla is boxer/pit so yeah, all exuberence). Layla did not want to jump up on anyone. She wanted to either curl herself around the legs so as much of her could be reached for petting as possible or else sit there wagging her butt. Actually had to encourage her to jump, then after being shown how to stop it twice she didn't do it again. Treats and pets good, corrections bad. We did DownStay with dogs moving. This time we each walked in our half of the room so the dogs were closer than last time. So Tito was actually about 8ft from Layla and me. We just kept treating our dogs and Tito kept on walking and Layla just stayed put. That was just awesome to all of us, squee! For a fun thing to do we worked on Tug. You present a toy to your dog, say Take it, then start playing and say Tug. To end it you stop and say Drop it. Peanut butter works for this. Nose is always first. Hehehe. We also worked on Leave it for dogs. Used to fake dog of course. Layla did much better than I thought. Listened excellent when it was only 3-4 ft away. Obvisiously had much more trouble once the dog came into her territory. But she did back up, with my help, and look up at me after a few minutes, which is great for her. She did loads better thn what I'd thought she'd do. While Tito left, I worked on Play dead. Shes gotten the sit and down part of it. I still have to lure her on her side, but thats easy now. Got to Davids around 4:30 and started reading Dragonsbane since he wasn't there. He got home, we rested for a bit, then went to WalMart to get a few things. Ate at Subway, tried a Teriaki chicken, provolone cheese and luttece sub which was good. He had stuff to work on so he did that and I read most of that book. Got to bed around 6:30am. Sunday Kate came over around 1:00 I think. We talked and David worked. HEr and Erin got me a black 3/4 sleeve shirt. The sleeves lace up which is awesome. And Kate and David think it looks good on me. I can't wait to show Erin to see what she thinks. Hehehe. Kate brought me home around 4:00. Stayed around the house area then went to Family Dollar for cereal and lotion. John picked me up and hung out with Cori for the rest of the night.

Monday woke up very slowly. Cori and I had breakfast. Cheese, crackers, pb&j sammich, and banana. And of couse had our tea. Hunted down addresses and phone numbers of dog daycare places that could be helpful. We went to GameStop for a present, Dollar Tree for dinner stuff and dog toy (another stuffed bear), Noahs Bark Dog Daycare from which I got an application. That one is on Kenny Road. Then off to Downtown to another doggie daycare and I find out that they are not hiring right at the moment. I hate when people lie on the phone. Specially since the other stuff is kinda close to Hilliard. Off to the library for her to pick up a book, to Kroger for more dinner stuffs, and then to home. Got to relax for a bit, looked at an alternitive health book, drink more tea. I love the Blueberry stuff. Amy came and got Cori and I for the potluck. Gotta see quite a few people I know. Was kinda close to the shelter actually. Found out the New Years Eve party I got tickets for got cancelled. Hopefully will be able to get money back on Thursday. Then we went to Circus which was fun. Kareoke Night. Grims outfit cool. The anti (but soft) santa. Also saw Jojo, Roger, Andy, and others that I can't remember names.

Tuesday am having Topaz meet Bailey or Dushund/pit mix. Then walking Layla with Tabi for a bit. Heading off to see David. Wednesday, umm, nothing. Thursday dog walking Layla and hopefully getting money back. Friday I dunno. either seeing Liz or Bah Humbug. Saturday is the last class of Pit Bull U. and seeing David. Might see lights at the zoo. Sunday, nada. Ta!
